Falls foot chase ends in marijuana arrest

NIAGARA FALLS -- A 20th Street man was arrested early Sunday after a brief foot chase during which, police said, they saw him drop some packets of marijuana in a field.

The incident began when police on patrol noticed two men acting suspiciously shortly after midnight in the 3200 block of Highland Avenue.

Police said one of the men ran off when the officers approached him. They said he dropped the packets during an ensuing chase. The packets later were recovered, and an analysis showed that they contained marijuana.

Officers identified the suspect as Jonathan A. Hamilton, 35. They said he was arrested on three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Charge filed in attack on woman in Falls

NIAGARA FALLS -- Police arrested a Third Street man early Sunday after a 28-year-old woman told them he attacked her when she refused his request to spend the night with him in her boyfriend's home.

Officers arrested Sheldon W. Crogan, 34, also of Third Street, on a charge of disorderly conduct. They said the victim suffered scratches on her hand but refused treatment.

Police said the man shouted obscenities at them, causing a crowd to gather at about 2 a.m. in the 600 block of Third.

Window-tinting violation results in DWI arrest

State police stopped a motorist for a window-tinting violation on Route 16 in the Town of Wales at about 8:50 a.m. Sunday and ended up arresting him for driving while intoxicated.

Troopers said Jordan A. Kline, 23, of East Street, Honeoye Falls, registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.13 percent. He was arraigned in Holland Town Court and released.

Man says he was attacked by gang on South Park Ave.

The victim of a reported gang attack Sunday morning on South Park Avenue claims his life was threatened.

Police said the victim was approached in the 400 block of South Park shortly after midnight by six or seven men who yelled, "We're about to get you. Call it a day."

The man said he was knocked to the ground and punched several times in the head, face, arms, back and legs.
