Batavia man killed in Connecticut crash
A Batavia man has been identified as one of the people killed at about 7 p.m. Thursday in a car crash in Mystic, Conn., according to state police in Connecticut.
Lance Lewis, 36, was driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 when his small SUV crashed head-on into a car driven by Terrence Garbuzinski, 46, of Attleboro, Mass. Both men died at the scene, state police said.
It was unclear why the Batavia man was driving the wrong way.
Several fire companies fight blaze in Pavilion
PAVILION -- A fire spotted by a passing truck driver before dawn Friday heavily damaged a commercial building in Pavilion used for sandblasting, Genesee County sheriff's officials said.
Volunteer firefighters from several companies joined the Pavilion Fire Department in responding to a 5:36 a.m. fire call at Hanson Aggregates New York Inc., 6895 Ellicott Street Road.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire.
The cause remains under investigation.
Authorities had to shut down Route 63 for a brief period, starting at about 6 a.m.
