Monsignor Francis P. Sorci, a retired priest, died Wednesday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. He was 92.
Born in Buffalo, Monsignor Sorci graduated from Diocesan Preparatory High School, North American College in Rome and Christ the King Seminary at St. Bonaventure University.
Ordained here in 1942, he was briefly assigned to the Diocese of St. Augustine, Fla., before returning to Western New York, where he was assistant pastor of parishes in Buffalo, Lockport and Jamestown before becoming administrator of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Sheridan and pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Brant in 1955.
Monsignor Sorci was pastor of Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church in Buffalo from 1969 until 1979, when he moved to Christ the King Catholic Church in Snyder as pastor. He remained there until he retired in 1992 after 50 years in the priesthood.
He was a prelate of honor in 1980 and was an auditor and advocate in the diocesan marriage tribunal.
Monsignor Sorci will lie in state from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Christ the King Church, 30 Lamarck Drive at Main Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow.
