>Pot-growing operation discovered during raid

LINCOLN, Ont. -- Niagara Regional Police said a raid Friday uncovered an elaborate marijuana-growing operation in a home at 4460 Lincoln Ave.

Detectives and members of the department's Morality Unit executed a warrant and seized marijuana valued at $800,000 and growing equipment valued at $50,000. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the raid, police said. An investigation is continuing.

>Abandoned warehouse hit by suspicious fire

DUNKIRK -- Fire officials are investigating a suspicious fire Saturday afternoon in an abandoned warehouse on South Roberts Road.

Firefighters were called at 4:36 p.m. to the former Edgewood Warehouse site at 320 South Roberts Road, where smoke was coming from the building. Firefighters found a pickup and debris on fire in the warehouse and quickly extinguished the blaze before it spread.

The 165,000-square-foot warehouse is part of an inactive industrial park. Heavy industrial and commercial use of the site began in 1909 with the manufacturing of locomotives, military equipment, stainless steel and wood products.

Edgewater Investments began using the main building as a warehouse in 1982 and has since abandoned the property.

>Cornwall Ave. fire ousts adult, two children

A fire drove an adult and two children from their Buffalo home early Friday.

The alarm at 328 Cornwall Ave. sounded at 12:53 a.m. The fire, which broke out in a bedroom, caused damage estimated at $10,000. The cause remained under investigation.

>Police probe shootings within 10 minutes

Two people were injured in separate shootings Saturday afternoon in Buffalo.

About 2:45 p.m., on Theodore Street in the city's Schiller Park neighborhood, Brandon Rose, no age or address available, said he heard two gunshots then felt pain in his right thigh, police said. Rose was being treated in Erie County Medical Center,

About 10 minutes later, two miles away on Box Avenue, Vanquiten Lawrence, no age or address available, was shot twice in the right thigh, according to police. The shooter was in a dark gray Chevrolet Impala that sped out on Kehr Street. Lawrence was being treated in ECMC.

Their conditions were unavailable Saturday night.

It was unclear if the shootings were related.
