Sterling Sommer, a Tonawanda-based printer, named Susannah Gray an account executive. She is a Hartwick College graduate.

The Center for the Study of Art, Architecture, History and Nature awarded Charles Rand Penney the C-SAAHN Award for his distinguished contributions to Buffalo Niagara's cultural heritage. Penney began to collect art in 1934.

The Eastern Great Lakes Association of Contingency Planners, providers of professional development and networking opportunities for business continuity professionals serving the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse area, named Bob Dickerson recipient of the 2009 EGLACP MVP award. Birdair Inc. has won the contract to supply the roof and facade cladding system for a new development in Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston, W.Va. The Amherst company will supply a retractable fabric canopy over the park's existing seating area, along with a steel and fabric roof for the park's new permanent stage and a canopy covering a new pavilion overlooking the Kanawha River.
