The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is toasting modern Broadway on Saturday with "The Three Broadway Divas." They are Christiane Noll, pictured above, who made her Broadway debut as Emma in "Jekyll and Hyde." She also appeared in "Urinetown" and "City of Angels." And Jan Norvath, who was in the original company of "The Phantom of the Opera," performing the roles of Christine and Carlotta and also played Grizabella in the touring production of "Cats."
Completing the trio is Debbie Gravitte, who began her Broadway career in "They're Playing Our Song" and went on to perform in "Les Miserables" and "Chicago" and win a Tony Award for her work in "Jerome Robbins' Broadway." Gravitte appeared here in 2007 at one of Marvin Hamlisch's BPO pops concerts, and she was a delight.
In what promises to be a lively and fast-moving concert, the three divas will be singing songs from modern Broadway extravaganzas as well as earlier classic shows. The concert takes place at 8 p.m. Saturday at Kleinhans Music Hall. Admission is $34.50-$76.50.
