John Kenneth Ransford Hanour of Clarence, a retired insurance agency owner, died last Thursday in Erie County Medical Center. He was 78.
Known to all as Kenny, he formerly owned and operated Ken Hanour Insurance Agency in Buffalo until 1967 and then in San Diego. He returned to the Buffalo area after he retired in 2002.
Born in Buffalo, he was a 1950 graduate of Amherst High School and served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955, attaining the rank of sergeant. Returning from the service, he attended the University of Buffalo, graduating in 1960.
He worked as a bartender in Brunner's Tavern in the 1950s and 1960s, when it was owned by his parents.
He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Clarence.
Surviving are his wife, Vicki; five sons, Jon, Gregg, David, Todd and Chris; a daughter, Katie; and a sister, Mary Gloria Polich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 8500 Main St. at Harris Hill Road, Clarence.
