Jane M. Pearce, served on boards of several organizations

Jane M. Pearce, who served on the boards of several organizations, died Tuesday in Oxford Village at Canterbury Woods, Amherst. She was 88.

Born Jane Seeman in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Holy Angels High School and Skidmore College.

Mrs. Pearce served on the boards of Bristol Home, the SPCA and Skidmore College Alumni Association. She was known as a fiercely independent woman with a sharp mind and generous spirit.

She loved animals and enjoyed gardening, golfing and tennis; she excelled at crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Pearce had traveled the world with her husband, Howard W., who died in 1985.

She was a member of Country Club of Buffalo, as well as the Saturn, Buffalo and Garret clubs.

Survivors include three sons, Bill and Tom Lucas, and Frederick William.

A memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. May 15 in St. Joseph University Catholic Church, 3269 Main St.
