Greg M. Nizialek, retired mail carrier, Vietnam veteran
March 25, 1939 -- March 16, 2010

Greg M. Nizialek, a retired mail carrier, died Tuesday at his home in Marilla after a lengthy illness. He was 70.

Born and raised in Buffalo, Mr. Nizialek attended Buffalo schools. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star. He served in the National Guard for 43 years, retiring in 1999 as a master sergeant with the 127th Armored Battalion.

After returning from Vietnam, Mr. Nizialek began working as a mail carrier. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years until his retirement in the mid-1990s.

Mr. Nizialek is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Shirley Krasinski; a daughter, Linda Pawlowski; and a sister, Barbara Damba.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in Resurrection Catholic Church, Union Road and Como Park Boulevard, Cheektowaga.
