BUFFALO -- Installation of "Heat Waves in a Swamp: The Paintings of Charles Burchfield" has started at the Burchfield Penney Art Center at Buffalo State College.
The retrospective of work by Charles E. Burchfield will open with a reception March 6 and will be on view to the public from March 7 to May 23.
The exhibition will feature more than 80 watercolors, drawings and oil paintings.
Some of Burchfield's work will be contrasted against a reproduction of Burchfield's "Sunflowers" wallpaper, designed in 1921.
"The whole idea was to show this contrast of Burchfield's life," said Nancy Weekly, head of collections and the museum's Charles Cary Rumsey Curator.
