The acting boss of the Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau had to think fast this morning when his choice of colors offended his patron.
It's not a sports rivalry, or that County Executive Chris Collins cares about the hue of anyone's tie or socks. Collins just mockingly objected when Drew Cerza, his hand-picked choice to run the bureau, compared last week's red carpet roll-out of the organization's Buffalo Ambassador program to today's "green carpet" lauch of its Green and Mean (it) campaign to promote the area as an environmentally sensitive place to visit.
"In Erie County government, there are two colors we don't use together," Collins cracked, "red and green." That's in reference, of course, to the year of the red budget, the green budget and the budget disaster that went down during the reign of former County Executive Joel Giambra.
"It's all about colors," he said. "I thought I'd get a pink slip after that mention of red and green. I was feeling kind of blue there for awhile."
Now, about all those traffic signals.
