Robbery attack victim transported to ECMC

NIAGARA FALLS -- A 66-year-old man was attacked with a blunt instrument, possibly a hammer, while being robbed of $97 near Ferry Avenue and Ninth Street shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, police said.

The victim was confronted by three men. One man hit the victim repeatedly while another took his wallet. The victim was transported to Erie County Medical Center for treatment. His condition was not available.

Father-son dust-up ends with hurt hand

NIAGARA FALLS -- A father-and-son dispute late Friday that triggered a wrestling match left the father injured, police said.

The 66-year-old victim told police that his 33-year-old son came to his Niagara Avenue home shortly before 11 p.m. and asked for money but was refused. The son then took a personal check from the victim, which led to the brief scuffle. As the son left the house, his father's hand was slammed in the door, police said.

Jewelry thief targets Weston Avenue home

NIAGARA FALLS -- Police are investigating the theft of two gold rings, one with diamonds, from a Weston Avenue home Thursday night. The jewelry, valued at $2,300, was stolen from a bedroom in the home, police said.

Retaliation called motive for beating of student, 13

NIAGARA FALLS -- Police are investigating the beating of a 13-year-old boy after he left Gaskill Preparatory School on Friday afternoon.

Police said the boy was attacked by another boy in an alley by the school after dismissal at 2:45 p.m. The victim was punched in the head, knocked to the ground then hit until he was unconscious, police said.

Police said that the injuries were not serious and that the incident was in retaliation for a previous attack.
