>Men's basketball

Niagara and Canisius will take part in the ESPNU BracketBusters event in February. The 11 televised BracketBusters matchups will be announced Feb. 1.



Erie Community College won the ECC Invitational at Harvest Hill GC in Orchard Park. ECC beat Daemen on a tiebreaker after the teams tied at 320. They were followed by Medaille (342), Hilbert (368) and D'Youville (369). Jim Merriman of ECC (East Aurora) was the medalist with a 77.


>Men's soccer

Hiram defeated Medaille, 1-0, on a neutral field in Erie, Pa. Ryan Goettel made eight saves for the Mavs (7-1-1).


>Women's soccer

Alyssa Hulbert of Hilbert has been named Player of the Week in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. She had three goals and an assist in a win over Greensburg on Saturday. Mary Zinni of Hilbert was picked as Defensive Player of the Week. She had 16 saves in a 0-0 tie with Bethany on Sunday.


>Cross country

Washington & Jefferson cross country runner Scott Ryan (Williamsville East) was named Presidents' Athletic Conference Male Athlete of the Week for the second straight week after finishing eighth out of 112 runners at the Penn State-Behrend Invitational.
