Robin A. Oxenford of Williamsville, former president of Niagara National Inc., a specialty insurance company with home offices in Buffalo, died Sunday in Oakwood Health Care Center, Amherst. He was 81.
Born in Point Pleasant Beach, N.J., Mr. Oxenford earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J.
Mr. Oxenford served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956 and in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1966 to 1983. He received the Presidential Meritorious Service Medal from the secretary of the Navy in 1983.
From 1970 until his retirement in 1993, Mr. Oxenford was president and chairman of the board of Niagara National. His area of expertise was in providing insurance to colleges and universities.
He is survived by his wife of four years, the former Alice Webb; a daughter, Susan; a son, James; and two sisters, Margaret Bee Judson and Nancy Stephens.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today in Maryvale Drive Presbyterian Church, 425 Maryvale Drive, Cheektowaga.
