>Lockport gun theft leads to prison term
LOCKPORT -- A man who stole two valuable handguns May 6 from a home on Lock Street was sentenced to 2 1/2 to five years in prison Tuesday by Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III.
Calvin L. Williams, 42, of Garden Street, had pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary. The guns, worth a total of $1,450, were returned "after he came off his high," said Assistant Public Defender Michael E. Benedict. He blamed Williams' long criminal history, dating back more than two decades, on drug abuse.
