>Town residents vote today on downsizing board

Orchard Park residents will be voting from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today on whether to reduce the size of their Town Board from five to three members.

If the measure approved, the seats of two board members would be eliminated starting Jan. 1, 2012. Voting will take place in the basement conference room in the Municipal Center, 4295 S. Buffalo St.

>Bridge work to restrict traffic on Humboldt

State Department of Transportation crews will perform bridge construction work along the Kensington Expressway, resulting in extensive travel restrictions over the next four days.

Southbound Humboldt Parkway will be closed from Northland Avenue to Hamlin Road from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Traffic will be directed to follow a posted detour on Northland Avenue, Jefferson Avenue and East Ferry Street.

Northbound Humboldt will be closed from Sidney Street to Northland from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Traffic will be diverted to a posted detour on Sidney Street, Fillmore Avenue and Northland Avenue.

A truck detour also will be posted on East Ferry Street, Jefferson Avenue and East Delavan Avenue. And on-street parking will be restricted on Humboldt from Sidney Street to Northland Avenue.
