Cameron J. Gallson, a student at the University at Buffalo, died early Sunday in Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa., after an automobile accident in the Town of Ellery, Chautauqua County. He was 22.
Born Buffalo, Mr. Gallson graduated from Frontier Central High School in 2006 and went on to attend Erie Community College and then UB.
He was a water-safety instructor and a lifeguard at Hamburg Town Beach dating back to 2002.
Mr. Gallson was a member of Cheektowaga Baptist Church. He also was a member of the Schussmeisters Ski Club and enjoyed jet-skiing, skiing, fishing, skim-boarding, swimming and cars. He was fond of spending time with his family and his girlfriend, Jenna Baran.
While a member of the ECC track team, where he specialized in the decathlon, Mr. Gallson was voted the Most Valuable Runner in 2006-07 and 2007-08. Prior to that, he was awarded the Most Inspirational Athlete at Frontier High School in 2006.
Mr. Gallson is survived by his parents, Christopher and Joleen, and three brothers, Blaine, Zachary and Gabriel.
A service will be at noon Saturday in Cheektowaga Community Baptist Church, 670 Dick Road.
