Eric LeFante of Rider shot a final round 68 to edge Binghamton's Jake Katz (Williamsville North) for the individual medal Monday in the 21st annual Leo Keenan Invitational at the Bartlett Country Club in Olean. LeFante, who shot even-par 70 on Sunday, finished at 2-under 138. Katz finished with 68-71-139. Matt Krembel of Army (71-69-140) was third. Drexel (294-289-583) stormed back from six shots down to win the team title. Host St. Bonaventure was second with (290-297-597). Niagara (300-307-607) finished eighth.
Nathan Peck led Bona in Monday's round with a 71 and finished sixth with 73-71-144. Kevin Lewis (68-78-146) and Kris Boyes (74-72-146) of the Bonnies tied for ninth place. Lewiston's Jason Polka of Niagara (69-76-145) was seventh.
Senior Dani Silvers of the University at Buffalo was named Most Valuable Player at the Cornell Invitational. She had 49 kills for the tournament. Lindsey Schlegel (Lancaster) also was named all-tournament as she recorded 97 assists. UB swept all three of its matches to win the tournament championship.
Alexander Rouse of Medaille was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week after he scored two goals in a 5-0 win over Daemen and had his conference-leading fourth game-winning goal against Francisan.
Two Hilbert players were honored by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference for their play. Forward Alyssa Hulbert (Tonawanda) was named Player of the Week after she scored a hat trick in an AMCC season-opening game against Pitt-Greensburg. Mary Zinni of Hilbert was named Goalkeeper of the Week after she recorded her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season in wins over Pitt-Greensburg and Bethany (W. Va.).
