Sports medicine department gets high-volt stimulator
JAMESTOWN -- The Sports Medicine Department at WCA Hospital in Jamestown has acquired a new portable high-volt stimulator, courtesy of Jamestown Jammers.
The stimulator was purchased by the hospital with proceeds from a 5K run/walk pennant race organized by the Jamestown Jammers on July 19.
According to Dr. Michael Mitchell, medical director of Sports Medicine at WCA Hospital, the stimulator helps strengthen muscles and control pain in injured athletes.
"We are very grateful to the Jamestown Jammers for funding this very important piece of equipment which enables our staff to more effectively [rehabilitate] local athletes so they can return to action more quickly," said Mitchell.
