>Cross Country

Akron's Joe McCoy broke the course record at Beaver Island State Park by winning the UB Stampede Invitaional. McCoy covered the 8K distance in 25:29, beating the previous mark by 19 seconds. Akron edged host Buffalo for the team title. Jacob Hagen (Sweet Home) led the Bulls with a fourth-place finish in 25:59. Niagara placed eighth and Daemen ninth in the 10-team field.

In the women's race, Cornell won the team title as the Big Red's Genna Hartung won the 5K race in 17:57. UB took third overall, Niagara eighth and Daemen 10th.


>Women's Volleyball

The best start in school history continues for Medaille as the Lady Mavericks opened conference play with a straight-set win at Mount Aloysius (Pa.). Holley McAllister had 22 digs while Robyn Stanley (Sacred Heart) had five blocks. The Lady Mavs are 8-1 overall.


>Women's Soccer

Canisius will put its undefeated mark on the line today at 4 p.m. when the Golden Griffins host Buffalo at Demske Sports Complex. The Griffs are 5-0-1, one of just 20 teams in Division I to be undefeated (10 teams have no losses and no ties while 10 teams have no losses but one or more ties among the more than 300 DI programs). UB, meanwhile, is struggling with a 1-6-0 start with the lone win at home against Niagara.
