>Teacher on medical leave sues Iroquois district

A faculty member on medical leave from Elma Primary School is suing the Iroquois School District, district officials learned last week.

Although Superintendent Neil Rochelle declined to discuss the lawsuit filed by Jene-Elise Stahura-Uhl, the action was listed in federal court as "job discrimination (handicap)."

Rochelle said more than 150 points are listed in the action against the district, which covers the period of 2006 through 2009. Stahura-Uhl, a special-education and academic intervention teacher, was on leave most of the 2008-09 school year, the superintendent said.

Earlier this week, the School Board approved an extension of Stahura-Uhl's unpaid leave.
