>Domestic violence suspect surrenders in Springville

An Erie County sheriff's deputy talked a domestic violence suspect into turning himself in early Saturday after the man allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend in her apartment in the Village of Springville.

Deputy Jason Bouton was dispatched to the scene of a domestic situation in progress at a North Buffalo Street apartment early Saturday morning. By the time he arrived, the man had left. The female victim told Bouton that the man had learned she was dating someone new. She said he broke into the apartment, grabbed her, ripped her shirt and held her away from the phone while she screamed for help.

Bouton reached Daniel J. Casey, 31, of Springville, by phone and talked him into turning himself in at the sheriff's Springville station.

Casey was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, unlawful imprisonment and harassment. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment in Springville Village Court.
