Tomeo to speak
Teresa Tomeo, a syndicated Catholic radio talk show host who left her 20-year career as a television reporter in 2000 in rejection of what she sees as sensationalism, violence and liberal bias, will be the speaker Sept. 26 in the second part of the Catholic Answer Speaker Series at Holy Angels Church, 348 Porter Ave.
Author of "Noise: How Our Media-Saturated Culture Dominates Lives and Dismantles Families," she will make her presentation at 7:15 p.m. following Mass at 6. For information and tickets, call 986-1758.
Rosary crusade set
The 29th annual Rosary Crusade for World Peace will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, 1023 Swann Road, Lewiston. This year's theme is "The Value of Human Life."
A special traveling statue of Mary -- Our Lady of Visitation, blessed 12 years ago by Pope John Paul II in Rome -- will be used in this year's procession.
Monsignor J. Thomas Moran, pastor of St. Bernard's Church in Youngstown, will be moderator of the crusade, sponsored by the Niagara Council of Catholic Women of the Diocese of Buffalo. The Rev. James Fugle, parochial vicar at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Niagara Falls, will be homilist. Chairwoman is Dolores Laurrie of Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish in Niagara Falls.
The Asklar family from Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph will crown the statue of Mary. Niagara County students will recite the rosary and Niagara University ROTC cadets will take part in the crusade. The public is invited.
No more mortgage
Free Spirit Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Titus Ave., will mark the paying off of the church mortgage with a celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 17, including the play "Glory Train" by Sister Bessie Patterson, and a performance at 4 p.m. Oct. 18. of a reunion choir, made up of present and former choir members.

The Greater Niagara Christian Women's Connection holds a monthly luncheon welcoming fall at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 22 in Pane's Restaurant, 984 Payne Ave., North Tonawanda.
