Mets matters

Interesting story today from major friend of Inside Pitch Adam Rubin of the New York Daily News: Catcher Brian Schneider does not expect to be re-signed by the Mets. Normally guys struggling with injuries and a .200-range batting average aren't big news but it is in Buffalo. That's because top prospect Josh Thole figures to be the every-day catcher for the Bisons in 2010 -- if he doesn't make the Mets next spring.

Thole is getting plenty of Schneider's at-bats this month. Hmmm. The Mets better sign a good free agent catcher for next season if Thole isn't in Triple-A. I don't think we can stomach another four months of Robinson Cancel.

Also in the story, Bisons manager Ken Oberkfell will be directing Escogido in the Dominican Republic this winter. Longtime former major-leaguer and ex-Bison Moises Alou is GM and part owner of the club.
