This Day in Buffalo Sports History: Oops

Sept. 11, 1960 -- The Buffalo Bills debuted in the American Football league on this date. Let's just say it's too bad the history books recorded all of the ugly details.

The Bills dropped a 27-3 decision to the Titans in New York in Week One. Buffalo opened the scoring with a 35-yard field goal by Darrell Harper. That was the highlight of the game.

The Bills only had nine first downs in the game to New York's 20. Quarterback Bob Brodhead was 3 of 13 for 15 yards. Tommy O'Connell was 2 of 10 for 37 yards.

By the way, Don Maynard caught four passes for 116 yards for the Jets. Maynard went on to a great career capped by an appearance in the 1969 Super Bowl win over the Colts.
