Motorcycle crash leaves driver in critical condition

SILVER CREEK -- A motorcyclist is in critical condition in Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, with injuries suffered about 7 p.m. Sunday when he lost control on Allegany Road in the Town of Hanover, and laid his machine down, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office reports.

James A. Simmons, 50, of South Dayton, skidded 150 feet along the pavement, deputies said, before coming to rest in the middle of the road. Investigators have not yet determined why he lost control.

Suspected thief jailed after Darien Lake arrest

DARIEN -- An Avon man suspected of stealing items from vehicles parked at Darien Lake Theme Park Resort was arrested at about 11 p.m. Sunday, the Genesee County Sheriff's Office said.

Joshua D. Becerril, 21, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny, according to the Sheriff's Office, which said he was arraigned in Darien Town Court and sent to Genesee County Jail after not posting $1,500 bail. A Sheriff's Office report did not indicate what was stolen.
