Two men were wounded early Monday in a drive-by shooting, the second of two instances of gunfire that erupted about 90 minutes and a mile apart on the city's East Side, Buffalo police said.
Police also identified the victim of Sunday morning's fatal shooting on Weber Avenue as Jermaine Wilson, 29, of Garden Grove, Calif.
The two shooting victims were hit by shots from a passing car at about 12:30 a.m. as they left a house on Carl Street, between East Delavan and Northland avenues.
Police described the vehicle as an older-model, gray or silver four-door sedan.
Antwon Staward, 26, of Buffalo, was hit once in the right knee, while Donnell Taylor, 29, also of Buffalo, was shot in his right knee and left foot, police said.
The men were treated in the Erie County Medical Center for the injuries that were not believed to be serious, Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards said in a statement.
In the earlier shooting, two brothers were caught by gunfire just after 11 p.m. Sunday while driving on French Street, between Fillmore Avenue and Kehr Street, police said.
Several bullets hit the brothers' Pontiac Trans Sport minivan, flattening one of the tires, but no one was wounded.
Investigating officers reported finding two different types of shell casings in the street after the shooting.
Wilson was identified as the victim of the Weber Avenue shooting a day after he was found lying in the small East Side street, between East Delavan and Lang avenues.
He had been shot at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday and was declared dead at the scene, according to police.
Buffalo homicide detectives continue to investigate the slaying.
