Gooding Co., a specialty printing firm, has promoted David Carver to vice president. Carver has been with the company for eight years, most recently as team leader for the sales, customer service, and accounting. Carver was also recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the New York State Printing Industries Alliance (PIA). Prior to joining Gooding, Carver worked at Xpedx (formerly Alling & Cory) for 10 years. He is a graduate of Daemen College.

The Home Improvement Council of Western New York, a notprofit organization founded in 1963 to better the image of the remodeling industry, named Bill Miller of Siegel Landscape and Drainage, chairman of its board of directors for the 2009-2010 term. General Physics Corp. promoted Richard DesJardins to vice president. He began his career with the company in 1990 as a senior engineer. DesJardins holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and is a registered professional engineer in New York. General Physics Corp. is a global performance improvement company with offices in Amherst.

Merchants Insurance Group promoted Christeen Kanowski to assistant vice president of human resources. Kanowski, recently director of human resources for the agency, holds a certified personnel consultant designation.

Buffalo Design Group, a Hamburg-based advertising agency specializing in identity design, branding, graphic design, video services, and Web site development, appointed David Schnettler director of new business development. Previously, Schnettler served in various sales and management capacities in the manufacturing industry. He received a bachelor's degree in marketing from Buffalo State College and a MBA from Medaille College.

Citizens Bank appointed Ron Hayes vice president, senior business development officer, Citizens Bank Business Finance, the Asset Based Lending Unit of Citizens Republic Bancorp. Hayes is responsible for leading the marketing efforts in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, western Pennsylvania, and Western New York. Most recently, Hayes was vice president of Marquette Business Credit. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati.

Phillips Lytle partner Paul Morrison-Taylor was appointed to the board of directors of the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo for a three-year term.

Chelus, Herdzik, Speyer and Monte named Kimberly Conidi an associate attorney in the firm's downtown office at the Main Court Building, 438 Main St. and its branch office at 2448 Union Road in Cheektowaga. Previously Conidi was a law clerk to federal magistrate Judge Leslie G. Foschio. She received her juris doctor from the University at Buffalo and also holds a bachelor's degree in political science from UB.

Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, a public accounting firm, named Christopher J. Kuroski audit manager in the firm's Orchard Park office. Kuroski, a CPA, has more than six years of public accounting experience and was formerly an audit manager at Beard Miller in its Financial Institutions Group. He is a University at Buffalo graduate with a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance.

Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network has awarded Jeremy I. Beck an independent branch of the financial network. He will serve as president of Beck Financial Group, LLC., an independent financial advisory firm of Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network in Lancaster. He served as an associate vice president -- investments with Wells Fargo in Williamsville for the past seven years. He is a graduate of the University at Buffalo and holds the Accredited Asset Management Specialist designation with the College of Financial Planning.

Philips Lytle attorney Timothy W. Hoover was appointed chair of the Federal Practice Committee of the Bar Association of Erie County.
