OLEAN -- For the first time in program history, the St. Bonaventure women's basketball team reached the 20-win mark.
With their 73-65 win over Charlotte in the Reilly Center, the Bonnies improved to 20-9 overall and end the regular season with a program-best 9-5 mark in the Atlantic 10.
It's a long way from the nine-win season the current seniors struggled through their first year on campus.
"When our seniors were freshmen we won nine games," coach Jim Crowley said. "And we had won our first five so that means we lost 19 of our next 23 games. The fact that they continued to believe, that they could find success and be sly enough to convince others is a testament to them. I've really enjoyed watching them play and they've made me a better coach."
Playing in their final games at the Reilly Center Saturday were guards Katelyn Murray (14 points, 3 assists) and Priscilla Edwards (8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks) and forwards Erica Schiefen (11 points, 5 rebounds) and Ashley Edwards (3 rebounds).
