Fresh off a widely praised Broadway revival of "Gypsy," Patti LuPone is making her way to Buffalo. And she's bringing company.
LuPone, the Broadway legend who became a household name after her Tony-winning role in 1980's "Evita," will perform with fellow Broadway vet and erstwhile "Evita" co-star Mandy Patinkin at Shea's Performing Arts Center on May 2.
Between them, the pair has more experience on the Great White Way than you can shake a dance belt at -- and has toured together in the past. Patinkin is beloved by musical fans far and wide for his performances in shows such as "Evita," "Sunday in the Park With George" and "Falsettos." The two are slated to perform songs from a wide variety of composers, including Stephen Sondheim ("Sweeney Todd," "Into the Woods," "Follies"), Richard Rodgers (too many musicals to name) and many others.
Tickets are $35 to $100. The performance is also part of the Shea's annual gala fundraiser and dinner, for which tickets are $275 each. For more information on the gala, call 829-1172. For general information, visit www.sheas.org.
