>Man suspected of casing houses for a break-in

PENDLETON -- A man who told deputies he was going door-to-door looking for work may have been casing homes for a break-in, Niagara County sheriff's deputies said.

A resident of the 4800 block of Beach Ridge Road called sheriff's deputies when she heard her dogs bark and noticed a man on her porch prying at her side door just after 2 p.m. Wednesday. She said she banged on her window and the man walked away.

Robert E. Thompson II, 26, of Beach Ridge Road, was charged with second-degree burglary and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Deputies said they found a metal bar in his possession, several pills and packets of syringes.
