Sean M. Krause, an outspoken blogger whose efforts to look into the murder of a Florida toddler drew national attention, died Monday in Roswell Park Cancer Institute after a long battle with cancer. He was 25.
Mr. Krause was born in Niagara Falls and later moved to Buffalo, graduating from Kensington High School. After graduating, he lived for a time in Indiana before returning to this area.
Over the years, he worked on a number of Web sites and other online projects.
Since 2007, Mr. Krause had offered his opinion on the various investigative twists and turns of prominent murder cases from across the country on his blog, The Daily BS.
Mr. Krause recently had focused much of his attention on the case of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony, who disappeared in June and whose remains were found in December.
Mr. Krause blogged on the case extensively and struck up a friendship with Caylee's grandmother. He was interviewed by investigators and later appeared on Greta Van Susteren's Fox News program to discuss the case.
"I don't know exactly what my role is. All I see myself as is a writer and a perpetrator of the truth," he told The Buffalo News last month.
His family will remember him for his infectious sense of humor and his love of karaoke.
"He made everybody laugh. He did these voice impressions. I have songs that he sang as Kermit the Frog. I have songs that he sang as Elmo and George Bush and Bill Clinton," said Maria Zwiefka, a fellow Daily BS writer and Mr. Krause's sister-in-law.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley D. McNair; four brothers, William Zwiefka, Eugene Zwiefka, Leon Zwiefka and Joseph Zwiefka; and a sister, Margaret Grennon.
Services will be at 8:30 p.m. today in Brunner Funeral Home, 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda.
