Oakfield man faces felony DWI charge

BERGEN -- An Oakfield man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated after he was stopped by state troopers Wednesday morning on Route 33 in Bergen, state police said.

Timothy Grice, 47, was initially pulled over for a traffic violation when he was found to allegedly be driving drunk, police said. Besides felony DWI, Grice was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

He was arraigned in Bergen Town Court and taken to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail, pending another appearance in court Monday.

Two more arrested in beating of motorist

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. -- The last two of four suspects wanted in the brutal beating of a man in front of his 11-year-old daughter Jan. 16 were arrested this week, Niagara Regional Police reported Wednesday.

A 15-year-old boy, whose identity was withheld because of his age, was arrested Monday, and Christopher Taylor, 19, of St. Catharines, was arrested Wednesday. Both were charged with aggravated assault. Also charged with aggravated assault are Andrew J. Sheldrick, 21, and Alex J. Caldwell, 19, both of St. Catharines.

The 39-year-old man was pulled from his vehicle at a stop sign and beaten after he had driven around the four, who were blocking traffic. He suffered deep cuts to his face and head and multiple bruises and was hospitalized. The man's daughter remained in the car.

Damage put at $51,000 in fire at auto dealer

Damage was estimated at $51,000 to a Sycamore Street auto dealership and garage that caught fire shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, Buffalo fire officials said.

Firefighters said the roof at Larke Enterprise, 726 Sycamore, collapsed during the fire, damaging two vehicles. Firefighters brought the fire under control in 27 minutes, according to reports. The cause remains under investigation.

Vehicle strikes porch; driver accused of DWI

A Buffalo man whose vehicle crashed into the porch of a South Buffalo residence early Wednesday was charged with drunken driving, police said.

Michael J. O'Brien, 19, was accused of crashing his 2003 Nissan into a porch at 1410 South Park Ave. at about 4:30 a.m., according to police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge.

The crash, DeGeorge said, caused extensive damage to the porch and the vehicle.
