Meeting planned to discuss 2009-10 budget uncertainties
SILVER CREEK -- Silver Creek School Superintendent David O'Rourke will meet with teachers and staff today to discuss possible cuts and other issues related to the uncertainty of the budget.
O'Rourke said during a meeting of the board Wednesday that he opted to inform teachers now so that they are prepared for what may happen should the school district's state aid take a dramatic downturn.
"Our revenues are like a moving target," he said.
School budgets must be made final April 24, but O'Rourke said revenue from state aid may not be determined by that time.
In other matters, board members approved the calendar for next year. Teachers will start before Labor Day with some in-service training.
Students will be reporting on the Tuesday after Labor Day.
