Sister Alma Ide, 91, served as cook for her community
Jan. 13, 1918 -- Feb. 20, 2009

Sister Alma Ide, a nun at Stella Niagara, died Friday in Sisters of St. Francis Health Center, Lewiston. She was 91.

Born in Buffalo, Sister Alma entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Stella Niagara on Sept. 7, 1938, and made her profession of vows on Aug. 18, 1941.

Sister Alma served her sisters in community as a cook in both St. Joachim and St. Ann in Buffalo. She also had been stationed in St. Agnes in Atlantic Highlands, N.J., and St. Mary in New Monmouth, N.J.

Sister Alma spent many years in Columbus, Ohio, preparing meals for the community. She enjoyed gardening and nature.

She became a resident of the Stella Niagara Health Center on March 30, 1995.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Stella Niagara.
