Traffic stop ends in arrest of 2 on vehicle theft counts
Two Buffalo males were arrested Sunday night by state police after they were found in an allegedly stolen vehicle on Timon Street, according to Buffalo police reports.
Deangelo J. Askew, 17, of Heller Street, and Jason E. Shaw, 20, of Timon Street, were stopped for a vehicle and traffic infraction on Timon.
Police said the 1995 Ford Explorer that Askew was driving was reported stolen earlier Sunday.
The vehicle was for sale when Askew and Shaw took it for an apparent "test drive" and allegedly failed to return it.
They were charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. Both were taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending court action.
Guest suspected in theft of electronic equipment
An out-of-town man allowed to spend the night in a West Side home stole a variety of electronic equipment, a woman told Buffalo police Sunday.
The victim said she left her Bird Avenue home for a couple of hours Sunday morning and came back to find the items missing. The items included 60- and 32-inch televisions, a Nintendo Wii, an Xbox 360, two cable boxes, a DVD player, a speaker system and 10 DVDs, according to a police report.
