A memorial service for Doreen Wood Elliott, a Snyder resident who was active as a volunteer at her church and in several organizations, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in North Presbyterian Church, 300 N. Forest Road, Amherst.
Mrs. Elliott, an elder at North Presbyterian Church, died Wednesday at her home after an illness. She was 70.
Born in Lancaster and raised in Amherst, Mrs. Elliott was a graduate of Amherst High School and Michigan State University.
She worked as an account executive for Bausch & Lomb and as an investment adviser at Goldome Financial Services and Key Brokerage before retiring in 1997.
Mrs. Elliott was a longtime volunteer and former member of the executive board of the Junior League of Buffalo and was a director of the Twentieth Century Club, where she had served as treasurer.
She also served as a member of the Amherst School Board from 1978 to 1980.
She enjoyed travel, theater, antiques, reading and gardening.
Mrs. Elliott is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jack; two daughters, Elizabeth Cook and Beverly; a son, John; and a brother, Barry Wood.
