Live from the Section VI seedings meetings

Good morning from the Section VI basketball seedings meetings at Cayuga Heights Elementary in Depew, an important meeting but definitely not something on par with the NCAA Selection Sunday show. We're in the school cafeteria determining who is playing who and where.

We will have complete brackets online at as soon as possible. It might take some typing, but I would think complete schedules would be posted by 1 p.m.-ish. I like using the suffix "-ish" relating to time. Maybe because I tend to run late.

10:15 a.m. We have our top seeds in boys, and there aren't any real surprises: Class AA: Niagara Falls; A1: Sweet Home; A2: East; B1: East Aurora; B2: Akron; C: Randolph; D: Maple Grove

10:20 a.m. Very exciting stuff in Class C: a triple coin-flip determined seeds two through four -- No. 2 Westfield, No. 3 Cassadaga Valley and No. 4 Frewsburg. Literally three Section VI committee members flipping a coin simultaneously. If only we had a photographer here! Baddump-bump.

11:05 a.m. The boys seedings have been completed and are being printed out. We'll be typing as fast as we can once we get them.

11:19 a.m. Mary Jo Monnin just let me look at her girls schedule and here are the girls top seeds: AA: Lockport; A1: Williamsville East; A2: Pioneer; B1: Olean; B2: City Honors; C: Salamanca; D: Clymer.

The Class AA top seed was a close one: Lockport's power rating was 4.2143; No. 2 Williamsville North's was 4.1429.

11:24 a.m. I just got an email from the Monsignor Martin Association, which has set its boys playoff bracket. It was a little tricky with tiebreakers because the third, fourth, fifth and sixth teams in the standings all finished 7-7 in league play.

The quarterfinals, which will be played at 6:30 p.m. Monday, are: 8-Niagara Catholic at 1-Nichols; 5-St. Francis at 4-St. Mary's; 6-Bishop/Timon-St. Jude at 3-St. Joe's; and 7-Cardinal O'Hara at 2-Canisius.

11:33 a.m. We now have both brackets in hand, as well as the Monsignor Martin boys, and we'll type as fast as our fingers can go. I'll have an update when the complete schedules are online, and additional posts will follow.

1 p.m. The boys seedings are up at the high school page. Girls are next.

2:14 p.m. The girls are up. Booyah.

We'll have more on the seedings in Sunday's paper, a preview of both tournaments in Tuesday's paper as part of the Scholastic Spotlight, and much more coming on the Prep Talk blog.
