2 Allegany residents accused of welfare fraud

ALLEGANY -- Two residents of Five Mile Road were arrested Monday by Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies on welfare fraud charges.

Donna Wackwitz, 42, and Jeffrey Wackwitz Sr., 43, were each charged with two counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, petit larceny and fifth-degree welfare fraud. They are to appear March 10 in Olean City Court to answer to the charges.

They are each accused of fraudulently receiving $650 in benefits from the county Social Services Department last year.
