STEVEN L. JOHNSON of Lancaster, a father of three, was one of four Northrop Grumman Amherst Systems employees killed on Flight 3407.
The 52-year-old program manager also was a longtime employee of Calspan/Verdian in Cheektowaga, where he worked as a project engineer.
The Lancaster High School graduate is remembered by childhood friend Kirk Andrusz as "an all-around nice guy."
"He enjoyed spending time with kids, and watching them play soccer. He also enjoyed playing goalie for area teams, camping, fishing and being with lifelong friends," Andrusz said.
Johnson, who was divorced, was returning home from a business trip with co-workers Darren Tolsma, Ernie West and Jerry Krasuski when Flight 3407 went down, killing all 49 on board and one person on the ground.
