Mark Hryvniak didn't let a little cold weather slow him down at the Lockport Y-10 race last weekend. He won handily with an impressive time of 54 minutes and 18 seconds. Elizabeth Randell was the women's winner in 1:08:08, taking the 10-mile race by more than three minutes.
Elsewhere last weekend, Nick Orlowski (16:14) and Jamie Wallace (19:46) were the winners at the Alden Black Water Baths 5K run. And in the 5K Dash for the Dome, Matthew Glynn (16:45) and Meghan Nolan (18:07) were first across the finish line. Temperatures were around 20 degrees last week, so all of the week's winners apparently were in a hurry.
The calendar is empty this coming Saturday, but there are two traditional events on Sunday. The Chilly Challenge takes place at Canisius High School, while the Polar Bear 5K will be held in Olcott. As usual, buffalorunners.com has the details.
