Man, 93, dies, apparently after fall Was resident of Dosberg Manor at Weinberg Campus

A 93-year-old man whose body was found outside Dosberg Manor at the Weinberg Campus in Getzville apparently died of injuries from a fall, authorities said Thursday.

The victim, whose name was withheld, was discovered Wednesday morning outside the window of his room by a member of the staff at the North Forest Road adult facility.

It was several hours after the man was discovered missing from the room, according to reports. It also was unclear how far the man fell.

In a statement released Thursday, David Dunkelman, president and CEO of Weinberg, said the resident died of "blunt force injuries . . . consistent with a fall."

Dunkelman said a final report from the Erie County medical examiner is pending.

However, preliminary findings revealed that the man likely died immediately from his injuries, said Dunkelman, who added that although no foul play or criminal activity was suspected, suicide has not been ruled out.

"The individual was a resident of Dosberg Manor since Jan. 23," Dunkelman said. "We are very saddened by the loss of our resident. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends."

Amherst police were continuing an investigation into the case.
