The St. Bonaventure Bonnies wanted to make a big statement Thursday in a prime-time Atlantic 10 men's basketball showcase.
George Washington (8-15, 2-19) started out on fire and turned up the heat even more in rolling to a 90-62 victory over Bona (13-12, 4-8).
Led by Rob Diggs (26 points), George Washington jumped out to a 12-5 lead that ballooned into a 29-13 edge at the 9:42 mark of the first half.
"Give GW a lot of credit. They came out and shot the heck out of the ball and we didn't," said St. Bonaventure coach Mark Schmidt. "Diggs is one of the premier players in this league and if you let him get into a rhythm early it's going to be a long night -- and it was."
