Dawn M. Monachino, former teacher, pharmaceutical sales representative
June 24, 1964 -- Feb. 12, 2009

A memorial Mass for Dawn M. Monachino, 44, of Clarence, a pharmaceutical representative who died Thursday in the crash of Continental Flight 3407, will be offered at 10 a.m. Feb. 28 in Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 8500 Main St., Clarence.

Born in Scranton, Pa., the former Dawn Moro attended high school in Carbondale, Pa. Known for her beautiful voice, she attended Marywood College as a voice major, then transferred to West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a teaching degree.

She taught elementary school in Pennsylvania and Charleston, S.C., before marrying her husband Michael in 1995 and moving to the Buffalo area. Here, she was a substitute teacher in the Northtowns before taking a job in pharmaceutical sales.

Mrs. Monachino attained a top national sales ranking and was awarded three Presidents Club awards. She was a district trainer with her most recent employer, Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Catherine Moro.
