Supervisor to present State of the Town address
Clarence Town Supervisor Scott Bylewski will report on "The State of the Town" at an 11:30 a.m. luncheon Thursday sponsored by the Clarence Unit of the League of Women Voters of Buffalo/Niagara.
The public is invited to the talk, which will be held in Hirsch's Restaurant, 8445 Main St.
The luncheon will include salad, stuffed chicken breast, roasted red potatoes, glazed carrots, dessert and beverage for $15, including tax and gratuity. For reservations, call 759-8188.
Jackson biographer will discuss her book
JAMESTOWN -- Gail Jarrow, author of the first biography of Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson in 50 years, will speak about how she did her research and writing at 7 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Robert H. Jackson Center, 305 E. Fourth St.
Jarrow, who lives in Ithaca and teaches writing, will talk about how she used personal letters, an unpublished autobiography, oral history and photographs to follow Jackson from his childhood in Western New York to his career on the U.S. Supreme Court and as chief prosecutor in the Nazi war crime trials.
Her book is "Robert H. Jackson: New Deal Lawyer, Supreme Court Justice, Nuremberg Prosecutor." Her talk is free and open to the public. For information, call 484-7135, Ext. 225.
District moves meeting on budget to Feb. 26
An information session on the proposed budget for the West Seneca Central School District has been rescheduled to Feb. 26.
A session on the support services section of the 2009-10 budget was to have been conducted last Thursday but was canceled because of inclement weather. The support services portion of the budget will be presented the same night as the district lays out plans for the curriculum and instruction parts of the budget.
The forum will start at 7 p.m. Feb. 26 in the board room in West Elementary School, 1397 Orchard Park Road.
