It has been more than a year since a Buffalo theater company has produced a play by A.R. Gurney. And while that might be an unspectacular statistic for any other playwright, scarcely a month normally goes by without some company mounting a show by the prolific and internationally renowned Buffalo-born talent who's partly responsible for putting Buffalo on the theatrical map.
But just in time for Valentine's Day, O'Connell and Company is coming to the rescue with a production of his famous two-hander "Love Letters" at the Riviera Theatre (67 Webster St., North Tonawanda). The show will run for just two performances, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Mary Kate O'Connell and Neil Garvey will star as the show's consummately WASP-ish protagonists, whose letters to one another cover more than half a century of love, pain and just about everything in between.
