Mountain Dew "Addicts" Kiss Teeth Goodbye

Mntdew

Consumerist.com is hosting a segment from Good Morning America's "Children of the Mountains"  series profiling how Appalachia residents' massive consumption of Mountain Dew soft drinks, poor nutrition and inadequate dental care gives them the distinction of having the worst tooth decay rates in the country.

Mountain Dew, with its high caffeine and sugar content, is said to be used as a type of anti-depressant in the impoverished mountain communities--even put in infants' baby bottles. Children as young as two have baby teeth filled with cavities, many others have no teeth left at all.
