Think of all the romantic songs that have to do with dancing -- "Cheek to Cheek," "Begin the Beguine" and "Let's Face the Music and Dance." Dancing just goes with Valentine's Day.
That's why on Saturday, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is presenting "Dancing With the Buffalo Stars," our town's unique take on the big TV show. Local celebrities will be twinkle-toeing it around the stage of Kleinhans Music Hall to the music of the orchestra, under the direction of Robert Franz.
An impressive horde of hoofers will be competing for the title of Buffalo Dancing Star. They are: Janet Snyder from Kiss 98.5; Rob Lucas from Star 102.5; Victoria Hong from Channel 4 News; and former Buffalo Mayor Anthony Masiello.
Each dancer will be competing for a local charity. Snyder will be dancing for Gilda's Club; Lucas for the Tonawanda Kiwanis; Hong for St. Adalbert's Response to Love Center; and Masiello for the Buffalo Police Athletic League.
Watch closely, and choose wisely. At the end of the program, the audience will judge the dancers, and the winner will be crowned.
"Dancing With the Buffalo Stars" takes place at 8 p.m. Saturday in Kleinhans Music Hall. Admission is $25 to $57. For more information, call 885-5000.
