"Synergy I," a three-woman show of prints, painting and sculpture, opens today at Indigo Gallery (74 Allen St.). The exhibition features work from sculptor Deborah Stewart, printmaker Kathleen Sherin and painter and printmaker Monica Angle.
The three artists in the show each deal, in their own way, with organic or natural forms. For Sherin, her most successful abstract prints contain a chaotic nature that's tempered, as she writes in her artist statement, by "a quiet rationality." Angle's prints and canvases aim, she writes, "to conjure up a place remembered through light and color." And Stewart's sculptures, lyrical, biomorphic things, are meant to reference both nature and human movement at once.
A reception for the show is slated for 7 p.m. next Friday. For more information, call 984-9572.
