After further review, WIVB-TV and CW23 WNLO will continue to broadcast their analog signals beyond Feb. 17.
The stations had been running crawls saying they planned to drop their analog signals on Feb. 17, the date the government originally set for the conversion to digital broadcasts. Last week, Congress voted to give broadcasters until June 12 to make the conversion from analog to digital -- though some broadcasters have decided to stay with the original conversion date.
"Our decision was based on our detailed analysis of how prepared our viewers are for the switch to digital TV," said General Manager Chris Musial. "WIVB and CW23 WNLO have dedicated a tremendous amount of time, inventory and resources to educating viewers about the digital transition."
